Mount Hutt Motels

Annette and Jeremy welcome you to the Mount Hutt Motels . On the 15th April 2026 we became the new Owner/Operators of the Mount Hutt Motels. Methven and the Mt Hutt Ski Field have been a big part of our life for over 50 years. I was fortunate enough to ski on Mt Hutt as a young girl and Jeremy learnt to ski on this great mountain as a toddler. Jeremy has been instructing with Mt Hutt and in Japan since his early 20's. As a family we are still very passionate skiers and love the Mid Canterbury Region.

We are thrilled to have taken over from Sharryn and Keith who have been operating the motels for over 20 years. We intend to keep the same philosophy as Sharryn and Keith, they have always prided themselves on extending to their guests a warm, friendly Kiwi hospitality.

The units are set off the main road which provides a quiet and peaceful stay and plenty of parking available. The Motels are only a short walk to the town centre making it the perfect location for the corporate or leisure traveller and the perfect New Zealand snow/ski holiday motel. We are also the closest Motel to Ōpuke Thermal Pools and Spa, a very short walk along the tree lined path to the beautiful pools.

We offer 10 units, 5 Studio units with a king bed and a single bed, kitchen and separate bathroom. Three 2-bedroom apartments, the main bedroom has a king bed and the 2nd bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, along with an additional single bed in the living area. The apartments are well-equipped with a kitchen (nespresso machines) and a bathroom, and separate toilet. We have two Triple units which have a double bed and 2 single beds, kitchen and bathroom, separate toilet.

Each unit has outdoor seating which looks onto the lawn surrounded by established trees and gardens. An outdoor BBQ area is available. Plenty of lawn area for children to run around on.

Since taking over the motels in April we have strengthened the free, unlimited WiFi available for guests. We have 2 Studios and 1 Triple Unit freshly painted. We have just installed in all Units Samsung 50 inch Smart Televisions which will enable guests a wider viewing network to select from. In mid July we will be installing new curtains and blinds in all our units. This week we have completed our installation of heaters in all of our bathrooms, for guests warm through the cooler winter months. We will continue our painting throughout the year as availability allows us to.
